Sector: Change
01 Guided scenario · about 3 minutes
Anticipate a solar storm, from alert to action
Follow one solar storm from its source to your assets. Choose your sector; the other stays one click away.

02 Early alert
An early alert, before the eruption
Above an active region of the Sun, a twisted magnetic structure stores energy for days. SKEION’s physics starts here. Our vision: spot the moment it becomes unstable and send an early alert for your sector, before the eruption.
03 Alert confirmed
Eruption detected, alert confirmed
Once the eruption is observed, the early alert is confirmed: the risk index rises, the uncertainty band narrows and the exposed area shrinks.
- Map · the exposed area
- Curve · the risk index and its uncertainty band
- Axis · the time before the storm arrives
Risk index, 0 to 100: probability that the eruption reaches Earth × expected severity for your thresholds.
04 Refining
The alert sharpens
Our ambition: narrow the uncertainty hour after hour, shorten the arrival window and focus the exposed area on your grid. Current benchmark: the arrival time of a coronal mass ejection is off by about 13 hours on average.

Public benchmarks: mean absolute error ≈ 13 h on a CME’s arrival time (Riley et al., 2018); shock seen at L1, 1.5 million km away, 15 to 60 min ahead (NOAA SWPC).
05 Your actions
Your actions
Each alert level opens one action, from the slowest to prepare to the fastest. Do you act on the alert?

- Reduce load on exposed transformersShock detected at L1 · T − 23 min

Your choice
Actions inspired by published procedures and reports (NERC; Royal Academy of Engineering), to be adapted through studies.
Actions documented in public reports (NOAA, 2026; NASA; ESA).
06 Arrival
The storm arrives
The same storm in both cases (same geoelectric field). Without action the margins run out; with action they stay in the safe zone.
The same storm in both cases: a denser upper atmosphere, orbits harder to track. Without action three indicators pass their threshold; with action they stay in the safe zone.

07 Outcome
Acting early reduces the risk
An earlier alert, with its uncertainty, leaves time to act. Our ambition: warn earlier, then narrow the area and the arrival window, from the Sun’s magnetic configuration to your assets.
With action: 3 of 3 indicators in the safe zone. Without action: 3 of 3 past their threshold.
Built on the physics of the Sun: thirty years of research, two Nature covers.
In a pilot project, we explore with you how our solutions can meet your specific needs and solve your problems. From your case, we adapt and improve them so they fit the way your teams work.
